Next Game:  Saturday 13th March 2010  - Cumnock Juniors v Dalry Thistle in the Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League First Division -  kick-off 2pm.

Before the end of 2009 it was a certainty Dalry were going to be relegated. Cumnock won at Merksworth Park quite easily. Thing was some of us couldn't understand why Dalry were in this situation. Certainly they have been having problems with the Park and have had to play away quite a bit but they do  have a number of good players. Now things have changed and they are not succumbing to relegation, having hauled themselves off the bottom rung. If they keep going they could well keep in the League. It will be difficult but they displayed their resilience again by beating Kilsyth Rangers 2 - 0 on Saturday (6th March). Stevie Farrell will make sure there will be no complacency in the Cumnock ranks this Saturday. It will be a good game so come to Townhead Park on Saturday at 2pm and support Cumnock and see a good game.

Referee - Graham McNeillie (East Kilbride) with his Assistants Stephen McGovern and Jim Myles.

Match Sponsor - Sponsors match for the Dalry game are Les Bryce and Friends. Les is a good supporter of Cumnock Juniors, being in the Supporters Club, and no doubt his friends on Saturday will be supporters as well.  Your help is appreciated Les, and also your friends. You'll all have an enjoyable day.

Match Mascot - The draw for the Mascot for the Dalry game has been won by Willie McVake. Cumnock Juniors Treasurer Willie thought he would pass on the job to someone just a little bit younger and eleven year old Jodie Carson was invited to step in. Jodie is the granddaughter of John Saunderson who is well known as a member of the Supporters Club and does a grand job keeping the Maxie McCulloch Lounge ticking.

Thanks to Alex Baird Double Glazing for sponsoring the mascot raffle and anyone can get a ticket from Alex at the office directly to the right at the pay entrance.

Parents who get a photograph of the mascot at the game and would like it put in this website, forward a copy of it at the email address in the 'Contact Us' page.

Last Saturday's game (6th March) against Petershill.

Sponsors of the Petershill Match :

Thanks to Arcadis (U.K.) Ltd office in Glasgow who sponsored the game. The staff were there due to employee David Weir who we all know is a good supporter of Cumnock Juniors.

Thanks again the staff of Arcadis and thanks David for arranging this.

Arcadis are an interesting company. They are a global corporation with thirteen offices in Britain. They deal with infrastructure, the environment and buildings.

Infrastructure being assisting clients with transport, water and the energy sectors, helping them achieve their goals in costs, programme and project management consultancy.

The Environment is an increasing field and Arcadis supply businesses and governments with complex scientific engineering, risk management and an operational service.

The Buildings sector provide new buildings with maximum value for clients and an excellent example in football which Arcadis built recently is the new Arsenal home, the Emirates Stadium.

Match Sponsors' Player of the Match - The staff of Arcadis agreed that James Tyler deserved to be the best player.

Thanks to Bobby McCulloch and Tom Shirkie for the details. If you would like to sponsor a game or want more details, contact Bobby or Tom , in the 'Sponsors' page.

Match Mascot - Thanks to six year old Jake Corson, who with his dad Alan, is a regular supporter. Jake was excellent bringing out the team before the Petershill game. Speaking to Jake, he thoroughly enjoyed his day with his new Cumnock Juniors strip and a photograph taken of him with the team. Thanks also to Alex Baird Double Glazing who sponsor this.

Players -

Ian Cashmore - Great to see Ian coming on in the 74th minute of the Petershill game after the long injury he has had to endure and the setbacks he has had recently. Ian looked fit and played well.

Graeme Wilson - Graeme took a knock on Saturday and is battling to get fit for the Dalry game.

Other Fixtures:

Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup. - Cumnock Juniors have a bye in the first round and a home tie against Kilwinning Rangers in the next. Buffs are playing very well and should be in the First Division next season so any team playing them will have a very difficult game on their hands. No dates have been decided yet.

***********

Stuart McDonald - Congratulations to Stuart who was asked to join the international pool on Sunday 27th February and played in the friendly against Rutherglen Glencairn the following night. Stuart played but the game was sadly abandoned at half time when Rutherglen defender Craig Palmer received a bad  injury.  The result at that time was 1 - 1 with Stephen McGladrigan scoring for Glencairn in 25 minutes and the Scottish team scorer was Bryan Dingwall of Pollok on 45 minutes.

At the Emirates Scottish Cup derby game between Rutherglen and Cambuslang on Saturday (6th March), Scottish Manager Keith Burgess left a Scottish jersey and full Scottish training kit for Craig. Craig is still in hospital after an operation to have a steel plate and screws inserted to strengthen his fractured and dislocated ankle.

Cumnock Juniors hope Craig will have a speedy recovery.

George Pulman - Thanks to the family and friends of George who at the funeral, donations were passed on to Cumnock Juniors. That was a kind gesture.

Jock Clelland - Thanks also to the family who have donated Jock's 1949 Scottish Junior Cup winner's medal and runner-up medal the following year. Jock was a big, bustling striker who was a very popular player at Townhead Park and also respected in the wider community of Cumnock.

Thanks to Owen Scott for the information.

Fundraising Committee -

Burns Supper - The night on Friday (5th March) was a great success according to those who attended - with the speakers, entertainers and meal excellent.  It followed in the footsteps of such an enjoyable night last year and now it seems the Fundraising Committee have the Burns Supper an annual event on their hands by popular demand.  You don't have such well organised events like this without there being some hard work in organising it so thanks to the Fundraising Committee and others who were involved.

Sportsman's Lunch - This great afternoon on Sunday 25th April at the Social Club has among other, Andy Goram, and is now sold out. Thanks again for some tremendous work by the Fundraising Committee.

Legends Room - As you can understand, the Fundraising Committee have been extremely busy with the ongoing events and bringing the Boys Club and the Senior Club together. They are now looking at the Legends Room situation, which used to be called the Sponsors Room and was agreed at the AGM. Once the named players are sorted out, the Legends Room will be publicised with a Legends Dance in the Social Club.
